“I just miss her so much.”
Obi-Wan left his tea to take Anakin into his arms. The young man trembled against him, his hands burying in his robes.
The Jedi in Obi-Wan made him want to say, Release her from your heart. Attachments weaken us. Remember: There is no emotion, no passion. Release it all and you shall find peace and serenity.
But, no, he knew such words wouldn’t help Anakin, not when he had just lost his mother.
Anakin pressed closer, his breath growing hotter against Obi-Wan’s throat. “I never told you what happened.”
“I don’t want to know.”
Anakin lifted his head. Tears spilled down his handsome face. “I want you to know, Master. I want you to know what I did.”
Obi-Wan shook his head. He should have released Anakin, he should have put the length of the entire room between them, but he only held him closer. “Please. Not right now.”
Dark blue eyes went even darker. “Yoda knows, doesn’t he?”
“He felt your pain in the Force, yes. Your anger.”
Anakin leaned in, baring his teeth. “He knows I slaughtered those people.”
Obi-Wan gasped and tried to yank away, but Anakin only tightened his hold.
Obi-Wan felt the darkness building within Anakin. It terrified him. It also intrigued him.
“Go on, say it,” Anakin said. “Tell me you’ve lost faith in me, tell me you can no longer trust me.”
“Anakin—”
The young man framed his face and kissed him. Obi-Wan gasped and shoved him back. Anakin, undeterred, tried to kiss him again, and Obi-Wan almost went for his lightsaber.
“It’s forbidden ,” Obi-Wan urged.
Anakin glowered. “After what I did to the Tusken Raiders, do you think I care about what is or isn’t forbidden?”
“Yes,” he answered.
Anakin covered his face and cried harder.
