Vernestra was quite used to the assumptions other people made—both about her as a person and the Jedi as a whole. They believed her cold and loveless; they imagined the Jedi to be unfeeling, repressed monks who sat on high and did not live in reality, but who had access to power they deeply feared.

As a young girl, she might have blustered an explanation. But she was old now, and older than most of the people she’d known had ever been. Even if the words still stung, it was far easier to let it roll off her back and smile insincerely.

Because how to explain the way she experienced the world to someone who couldn’t feel it? How to tell them she sensed the life in everything, felt the air shimmer with light and feeling, bonded with her kyber crystal so that its soul beat in time with her own heart? To them, it was foreign that silence could be so loud and heartfelt, and it was perceived as a lack of emotion. Though sometimes she didn’t understand why: one did not have to be Force-sensitive to know that everyone possessed their own vibrant inner world.

This was why, in the end, even after all this time, the Jedi meant everything to her. Her fellows in the temple understood life this way, and she didn’t have to justify herself to them. Not all of them were like her in the other sense—when their romantic attachments eclipsed their feelings for the Order, they often became a test of what they valued more—but some were, and she could never give up this home, this life, with them.

Despite what the senator thought, she felt, deeply. Someone who didn’t feel would not mourn who they had lost to time.

Luke was chattering away at the Sith Lord currently held against the wall in Force suppressing binders. His hands moved wildly as he spoke—or lectured, rather, with the sort of impunity and fearlessness only a Skywalker could possess—but he didn’t seem to notice the sheer intensity of Anakin’s stare as he watched him.

His blue-eyed stare.

The significance of that would be lost on Luke, though it wasn’t his fault; for some reason, Obi-Wan had not taught him at all. But Ahsoka knew what it meant.

Removing the suit hadn’t automatically made him recognizable as the man she once knew, even if he shared what remained of the same face, but this did.

When she had cracked open his helmet on Malachor, he had faltered for a moment, but his eyes remained steadfastly yellow. Luke and Leia had told her that when Obi-Wan confronted him on the Death Star, he had killed him. And while she didn’t know what had happened with Padmé, it couldn’t have been good, either.

They’d all failed.

Yet in this moment, as he let his son berate him about being his own killer, something Anakin usually readily raged of his own volition to her, it was with familiar blue, blue, blue eyes.

Ahsoka didn’t dare hope. It had been twenty years, he’d been like this several times longer than she’d ever known him, and nothing could ever really make up for all the things he’d done.

But when his mouth curled around the name, “Luke”—still possessive, like a Sith, but also marveling, like a father—and drew Luke’s diatribe up short, leaving the boy to stare back at him, chest heaving and eyes wild, she could see an inkling of the past there, and felt something like hope stir in her anyway.

On those worst nights when Reva wakes to the scent memory of smoking flesh and the screams of the dying, the ghost climbs into bed with her and holds her. She doesn’t know her true name, but their presences match, all anguish and rage held back by a single sputtering light. In the comparison, she recognizes someone who lived the same hell, but didn’t survive. Someone she once knew.

The embrace against her skin—almost real, but never quite—should be its own torment, but it’s not. The ghost is a person, but she is also the Force itself; relaxing into the feeling is a balm to her racing heart as she comes down from a nightmare.

And each time she moves somewhere else, always running, always hiding, the ghost eventually follows, and the fear that she won’t return is chased away all over again.

She doesn’t know why this is happening. She only knows the ghost is troubled and lonely like her, and that her existence is holding Reva’s own will together.

“Thank you,” she says into the dark, and in response, feels a chaste, phantom kiss against the nape of her neck and arms tightening around her stomach.

Thank you all for your contributions!

Once again, heads up, there’s a new Star Wars streaming series launching early in June, The Acolyte, and I’m very intrigued. I hope community members are, too. However, while the series is airing, this comm is going to be spoiler-safe, so while you can write to the show’s storyline and characters, please tag accordingly and please be spoiler-free in your header posting.

Spoiler warnings will come off after all episodes have aired. I’ve added a tag for The Acolyte since there are trailers already out.

Ordinary Prompt #021(a): Memorial
Star Wars Prompt #021(b): Purge

Good news everyone, I’ve finally gotten around to putting together the master list of prompts and posting it to the community Profile Page. Just scroll to the "Mini Bio" section and you’ll see it. I’m also embarrassed to admit that I duplicated the "Blaster" prompt for Week 6 and Week 12. If you ever notice a mistake like this, please don’t hesitate to let me know.

If any one has any thoughts about improving this community, please let me know.

Please remember to put the prompt number in the subject line and to use full headers. All previous prompts are available to write drabbles for. If you haven’t had a chance to read over the main com information take a quick look here before you post and if you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in contact.

If you are posting on AO3, we have a collection! - SW100. If you want, please post your drabbles on AO3 to our collection.

I hope everyone has a good time with this and thank you for participating and welcome to the fun. The Star Wars universe is so rich, and the characters are so diverse, it’s going to be hard to write just one drabble.

May the Force Be With You Always!

In case you missed the previous post, in response to feedback from the community, I've set up tags (and putting there on the next few prompt posts so you can see them) for the main Star Wars media properties: the movies, both as the trilogies and as the individual movies, all of the television shows (including the infamous Holiday Special), but Books and comics/graphic novels are divided into Canon and Legends. With regards to Video Games, I went to AO3 and took a look at what games have attracted fic and added those by name, and the rest can use the "Media: Video Games - All Other Video Games" plus the relevant Continuity tag. I thought that adding "canon" and "legends" would be making the tag too long.

I also went through all of the posts, collected names, and gave everyone an author tag, regardless of how many fics they've contributed. Only four authors have less than three fics. You can all add your author tags to your posts.

If any one has any other thoughts about improving this community, please let me know.

Welcome!

This is the place for Star Wars drabble fic. All Star Wars media is welcome.  Movies, television shows, video games, books, comics, graphic novels, Legends, canon.  It’s all welcome here.

Here’s how this place works:

Every Sunday afternoon, two new prompts will be posted, one that is Star Wars themed, one that is ordinary

You may use either prompt, both prompts or any past prompts to write a drabble.

Drabbles are 100, 200, or 300 words. That’s it.

You can write two or more drabbles for the same prompt, they can be tied together thematically, but they have to be complete stories within the drabble word count. That’s the challenge.

If you can’t hit the round number marks don’t worry, it takes practice but please don’t go over 300 words.

Once you’ve written your drabble (or a series of drabbles) use the template below to post.  You can post on AO3, or your own journal with a link, or directly to the com, but please remember to use a text cut.

Update Regarding Tags: In response to feedback from the community, Star Wars media based tags have been added as follows:

For the main Star Wars media properties: the movies, both as the trilogies and as the individual movies, all of the television shows (including the infamous Holiday Special), but Books and comics/graphic novels are divided into Canon and Legends. With regards to Video Games, I went to AO3 and took a look at what games have attracted fic and added those by name, and the rest can use the "Media: Video Games - All Other Video Games" plus the relevant Continuity tag. Update Regarding Author Tags: For now, once you post here, you'll get an author tag (and if you don't get it right away, feel free to poke me.

That’s it.  Nice and Easy.

If you need any help or have any questions (since I’m sure I’m missing plenty) don’t hesitate to get in contact and be sure to have fun.

Some Things to Think About

Fandom works best when everyone is having fun. People have fun when people are being nice to each other.

All kinds of fic will be welcomed here.  If something doesn’t seem like your cup of tea go ahead a scroll past.  Likewise be sure to make it clear what kind of fic you’re writing.  People don’t like getting blindsided. If there’s an on-going series (e.g., a new season of The Mandalorian, or Andor), please warn for spoilers or use a blackout tag.

Also, it needs to be said, the legalities of the Internet are a weird thing.  If you’re underage in your country don’t go reading the dirty stuff and if you get caught reading the dirty stuff don’t point a finger at us and ruin it for everyone else, you weren’t supposed to be reading it to being with.

The mods are not fond of being cops but abuse will not be tolerated.  We hope it’ll never be an issue and we’ll only have good, kind people here.

Have Fun, be Kind.  Yes we know we’ve said it before but really we love it when fandom works and fandom works the best when people are having fun and being kind.
