Blaster fire rang out across the market, but no sooner than people had begun to panic and take cover, it stopped.
A wookiee was dead on the ground. The bounty hunter that sauntered forward to claim his kill wasn’t alone, flanked by stormtroopers.
Official business then.
“What was his crime?” people would whisper, later. A spy? A rebel? An escaped slave?
But in the moment, no one asked. Only silence followed the blaster fire, as people averted their eyes and hurried away as quickly as they could without seeming to hurry, fearful the Empire’s eyes would turn to them next.
