The ship that arrived was much smaller than the king was expecting, and he began to worry. His misgivings only increased as the only person to disembark was a strange, shrunken creature of a kind he’d never seen before.
At least the creature was followed by lead crates on repulsorlifts, so maybe they did intend to help clean up the radioactive objects that had been accidentally uncovered.
“Welcome,” the king greeted. “We’re pleased that the Republic lives up to its altruistic reputation and responded so quickly to our request. Will the rest of the cleanup team be joining us soon?”
“No others do you require. Master Yoda of the Jedi Order, am I. Help you, I will.”
“I… see,” the king said uncertainly. He’d never met a Jedi before. He’d heard they had incredible powers, but could one odd creature hobbling around on a walking stick really replace a dedicated recovery team? “Well, then, Master Jedi, I can escort you to the cleanup site.”
Of course, they stopped a safe distance away from the radioactive material, just shy of the signs hastily put up everywhere to warn people away. It was only a temporary solution, as the material’s half-life was too long to simply leave it where it was.
Yoda sent the crates on ahead of them. For a moment, the king wondered if they contained a droid somehow shielded enough to continue functioning under the onslaught of radiation. But then, from that distance, he saw as the radioactive objects rose into the air and bob towards an open crate. Next to him, Yoda had set down his cane and held both hands out, directing their motion with incredible precision.
Words failed the king. To move things from this distance…!
But he was grateful that such amazing feats were possible.
