The figure writhes on the operating table, groaning in pain because he no longer has the capacity to scream. Any other facility would have given him something for the pain and let him pass from his fatal injuries.

But Sidious is loath to have all his efforts go to waste.

So the droids do their work, indifferent to their patient’s suffering as they build his armor around him.

Vader was born the moment he knelt before his new Master. But as the durasteel suit seals around him, Darth Vader is born anew, more deeply bound in the darkness than ever.
