The void of space is vast, far larger than Am could have ever anticipated just from looking at it.
She drifts endlessly, cold and listless and damn near lifeless, the taste of plasma still resting hot and acrid in the back of her throat, and curses her brother for all he’s done.
Stupid Karre. So intent on saving her— ridiculous, as if she had any reason to fear death —that he'd walked away from everything they’d ever known and let their ambitions go up in smoke.
Balance requires two. How was she meant to establish peace and order without him?
